Unlike shows like The Americans that strictly treat foreign intelligence powers as corrupt and use them to play the role of villain, Berlin Station is full of characters and entities that are deplorable and balance on the light between good and evil. The increased involvement of the German intelligence forces is making Berlin Station incredibly unique, abandoning its strict allegiance to the US intelligence service. Everything seems to be falling together, with more characters crossing paths and secrets that have been tightly kept under wraps finally bubbling to the surface. With only four more episodes to go before the season finale, the show’s writers seem to deliberately up the ante and increase the suspense. The entire episode revolves around this mission as the show hits its midway point. Review : This week’s episode definitely lives up to what is expected of a typical spy show. and promises to resign after finding Clare and bringing her home. and his family the German intelligence agency is doing everything in their power to convert Daniel into a double agent and use him as a mole within the CIA Valerie Edwards (Michelle Forbes) lets on that she may now that her co-worker Hector DeJean (Rhys Ifans) is Thomas Shaw and finally, in an almost shocking conclusion, Steven calls up HQ in D.C. The episode is also full of personal struggles and triumphs: Deputy station chief Robert Kirsch (Leland Orser) reveals he wants nothing more than to return to Washington, D.C. On the other end of the episode, Daniel Miller (Richard Armitage) seems to be getting closer to revealing the identity of international hacktivist Thomas Shaw with the help of German journalist and Shaw’s media connection Ingrid Hollenbeck (Victoria Mayer). Unfortunately, his agents’ determination to keep their own secrets and protect their own reputations over that of the United State’s sends the operation south and they lose an agent, Clare (Zahra Ahmadi), to the operation. Recap: This week’s episode focuses on the Berlin team attempting to infiltrate and take down an underage bride trade ring run by the supposedly reformed terrorist Iosava (first appearing in episode two) and his wife. Station Chief Steven Frost (Richard Jenkins) is hoping that this mission will prove to the CIA that he is worthy of a promotion to Deputy Director of the agency. I would also like to congratulate the cast and crew on being renewed for a second season! Let me know what you think about Epix’s new CIA thriller in the comments below or on social media. Check out my reviews for the first, second and third episode of Berlin Station and make sure to check out the full review below if you’re not daunted by spoilers. ‘Just Decisions’ premiered on Epix on November 20th. The episode is fast paced and packed with details that I am sure will be highly important not only leading up to the season finale but for other seasons to come. After the last two weeks set up a possible insight into ISIL plans (sorry for not reviewing the previous two episodes), the Berlin CIA station is preparing a sting operation in order to capture a reformed terrorist. TL DR: Intense doesn’t even begin to describe the latest episode of Berlin Station. The series is set to debut ten episodes in its first season and every week I will watch, review and recap the episodes. Be warned for spoilers ahead but make sure to check out my TL DR before the review for a quick spoiler free review of what I thought about this week’s episode. Set in the German capital, Berlin Station follows a team of CIA operatives as they try to stop state secrets from being exposed by international hacktivist Thomas Shaw while still keeping secrets of their own under wraps.
